Abstract. Results of experimental research on the thermal conductivity for sodium chloride melt are described. Analysis of these data and data obtained by other authors is given. The mean value calculated from data of different studies is 0.41 W m-1 K-1. The overall accuracy of this value is estimated to be ±7%. The influence of the experimental conditions on optical properties of the melt is considered. It is recommended to use the NaCl melt as a reference for measurements of the thermal conductivity of semitransparent melts.
