Thermo-optical investigations in transmitted light

Abstract. Examples of thermo-optical measurements are given, performed in transmitted light. The results concern transmittance changes at drying of hydroxyapatite gels, at nucleation and crystallisation of lithium disilicate glass, and at thermal treatment of the planar boehmite gel monoliths. Each process was accompanied by a characteristic pattern of transmittance changes which sensitively reflect the underlying chemical and physical processes taking place.
